There is something about the holiday season that brings people together, but not having that special someone to share it with can make those lonely hearts feel even more alone and vulnerable. This year Britney flipped open her laptop and contacted Chris on Facebook. She was hesitant since they broke up over two years ago and his Facebook status read: in a relationship.

But she told herself why the hell not, since the main reason they broke up after high school was because they went to separate colleges.

She messaged him (Tue 25, 1:20pm): Hey Chris, it’s been a long time. How are you?

In less than five minutes to her surprise she received an alert on her Facebook app.

He messaged her (Tue 25, 1:23pm): Damn Britney, you look amazing as always. It really has been that long huh. I was actually thinking of you the other day since we use to go over each other’s house for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

She giggled, blushed and felt a rush of confidence that maybe he never got over her and there was still a chance to get him back.

She messaged him (Tue 25, 1:29pm): Really! same here. I actually contacted you because I wanted to let you know that I will be in town for the holidays. Maybe I can stop by and say hello. Besides it’s been a while since I got squished by those big muscles of yours LOL.

She knew it was a lie and she had no plans for visiting but only if he wanted her to be there. She waited patiently and crossed her fingers, hoping her mix of flirt and humor would set the mood and give him the necessary signals. She became irritated because it’s been more than 10 minutes since he replied. She thought, maybe he changed his mind. Maybe he’s really serious about this new person he is with or maybe he wasn’t into me anymore. And maybe…

He responded (Tue 25, 2:02pm): Sure, why not. You still have the same number?

She grabbed her pillow in excitement and buried her face in it as she made a squealing sound at the thought of her high school sweetheart wanting to see her again.

She messaged him (Tue 25, 2:10pm): Yes, see you Thursday at 4 p.m. ?  ;)

He messaged her (Tue 25, 2::13 pm): See you then.

She felt victory. She had gotten what she wanted and her plan was in order to get Chris back. She even sealed the message with an emoticon that gave him a wink. She ran to her closet and picked out her skimpy red dress because she knew it was his favorite color, and the low cut front would accentuate her bosoms and the short length exposed her legs, assuring that Chris would keep his eyes in all the right places.

On the drive back home Britney was nervous but told herself, this was her chance; forget whoever this new girl is, because Britney was back in town.

He messaged her (Thurs 27, 3:54pm) : You still coming? I’m here alone.

She messaged him (Thurs 27, 3:56pm): I’m outside.

Britney had an amazing night with Chris, she thought, at least until 7 p.m. when he told her he had to go to his mother’s house for dinner, and there were too many people there to invite her over. Chris told her that maybe he would see her again tomorrow, same time. Britney responded without a second thought and said yes.

She messaged him (Fri 28, 2:46pm): I hope we can try that whipcream on me this time.

She messaged him (Fri 28, 3:10pm): I have a surprise for you and it takes unwrapping;*

She messaged him (Fri 28, 3:32pm): Are we still on for today, I don’t mind trying new things.

She messaged him (Fri 28, 3:50pm): Chris you there?

He messaged her (Fri 28, 4:10pm): With my fiance. Sorry. Raincheck.
