It’s not every day where a musician releases an album and skyrockets to No. 1., especially in over 80 countries across the globe, not to mention this historical moment happening in less than 24 hours!
Canadian singer Abel Tesfaye, popularly known as The Weeknd, set the bar on November 25, 2016 on his third studio album Starboy. Already breaking Justin Bieber’s record for most streams on Spotify in just one day, there’s no telling what new heights the R&B/Soul artist is expected to see in the near future. Bye Beliebers! All jokes aside, Justin is still cool in my book.
For those who are not familiar with the “Crew Love” singer, The Weeknd specializes in melodic, synthesizing, and somewhat of a dark eerie vibe.
His unique sound has earned him much critical acclaim throughout the early years of his career, after releasing his highly anticipated mixtape Trilogy in 2012.
Now, if you’d like to get a taste of what he has to offer on his latest project, I strongly recommend you to watch the visual piece M A N I A, which was released three days before the album as a teaser. It’s on Youtube and absolutely rated PG-13, well maybe R to some viewers.
Anywho, the short film was artistically created to convey the lifestyle of the young star as he demonstrates pieces of the album as a glimpse of the daily life he experiences.
