To CAP It All Off…
When you’re stuck choosing between there, their, or they’re and don’t even know what an algebraic function is, who you gonna call? The Center for Academic Progress, that’s who!
Fondly referred to as CAP, this division of the Academic Support Center aids new and continuing students alike in math and English.
Andrew Pelletier, Coordinator of the program, “serves students at three critical junctures,” including Accuplacer practice test and review sessions, refresher programs, and tutoring for intensive courses.
Walk-ins and appointments are available for Accuplacer practice tests Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (4:30 PM on Fridays).
iMath, iEnglish, and Jumpstart are “intensive programs that make up the bulk of the work,” says Pelletier. Students “make use of the lab for everything from workspace to tutoring which happens exclusively in there. Class time is held here [as well], the professor and CAP staff are on hand to assist.”
These programs are valuable and helpful according to Pelletier. “They refresh foundational skills to succeed and build new skills. They are adaptive and identify areas where students are strong already,” he says.
The center offers 24 computers, several printers, and ample table space for group work.
